Wall seepage is quite annoying when the wall plaster is found peeling off paint, white colour powdering appear, water dripping when heavy rain etc. You may try many method to repair yourself with tapping, putty, paint over with multi layer but the problem still persist.

Understand the Wall Seepage Issue

• Which side of wall is having the problem? The wall next to toilet or the wall facing to the external. Most problem of wall with seepage or leaking issue are due to external wall or wet area wall such as toilet or kitchen.
• Is your house or unit is on the ground floor or basement? Most of wall sit on basement or ground floor is facing the water pressure from the underground water or rising damp due to poor construction method.
• Any windows/ fixing glass/ louvered window on the wall that facing the water seepage issue? Most of the cases for the seepage along the wall with windows are facing some water seepage due to the window frame issue, the drainage outlet for the window either have issue/ no provision/ no waterproofing sealant at the internal side of the frame.
• Wall leaking only occasional when heavy rain ? This problem mostly happen when the external wall crack line is not being properly repair or sealed. When heavy rain come with wind force, the rain water will seep through the crack line on the external wall and seep into the internal side of the wall.

How to Repair Wall Water Seepage ?

• Wall next to toilet and wall facing the external wall :
  • Find out the source of water is due to water pipe leaking / air con piping leaking or the crack lines from external wall.
  • Fix the leak for the piping or re-waterproofing the toilet
  • Fix the cracks line externally or re-paint waterproofing treatment to external & internal wall
• Water seepage due to ground floor or basement wall:
  • Try to use PU Injection grouting and stop the leak.
  • Apply new waterproofing coating to the wall and re-painting.
  • Re-built the wall and laying DPC ( damp proof Course) if possible for the wall at ground floor.
• Water seepage or leak due to wall with windows/ fixing glass/ louvered window:
  • Replace the new window frame if possible.
  • Install window Copping or awning, if possible
  • Treat the external and internal wall with waterproofing paint.
• Wall leaking only occasional when heavy rain :
  • Repair the external crack line, if possible.
  • Repaint the internal or external wall with waterproofing paint, if possible.
