Repainting Aluminium Window With Spray Paint

For new replacement of aluminium window, it can be a hassle as it will involve hacking work, application of approval from MCST, PE submission if your window is full height / half height ( below 900 mm) which is required proper safety for the replacement and ensure tempered glass compliance according to the building by law.

Spray painting to Existing Aluminium Window

The Pro and Cons of repainting of Aluminium Window:

  • Repainting is cheaper than replace a new set of aluminium window. Especially the curtain wall or full height aluminium window with fixed panel.  The replacement is a special job and may require rope access/ boom lift / gondola to perform the work. The replacement for curtain window may require PE & Liciensed builder.
  • Spray paint finish is better than brush paint method. Protection is required to be done for spray paint and the wall may be required to be re-painting. This is idea when your place is under renovation and needed to be repainting the unit.
  • Repainting of aluminium window frame or panel is only available for internal side of window. The external side is not achievable ( safety reason, unless provide access such as gondola, scaffolding etc) due to unable for full access at outside and in some cases, the facade colour control by management.

Spraying paint Vs of normal brush paint

The texture or brush line mark will be appear if use of brush paint type. Therefore, most of repainting work is recommended using of spray paint method.

All window surface shall apply undercoat/ primer with 2 coat of finishing. Epoxy paint will be used instead of fast dry paint, as the life span for the paint is longer.

    WE would like to painting of old aluminium windows for our my HDB apartment at Jurong West area. Can we change the colour from green to white matt?

        The spray paint of aluminum windows method is similar process like Spray paint the Body Car Painting. The slight different is we are using PU paint which is with hardener to provide better lasting coating and UV resistance.
